Playboy, philanthropist and genius Tony Stark, who has inherited the defense contractor Stark Industries from his father, is in war-torn Afghanistan with his friend and military liaison, Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes to demonstrate the new "Jericho" missile. The convoy is ambushed and Stark is critically wounded by one of his own missiles; he is captured and imprisoned in a cave by the terrorist group the Ten Rings. An electromagnet grafted into Stark's chest by fellow captive Yinsen keeps the shrapnel shell shards that wounded him from reaching his heart and killing him. Ten Rings leader Raza offers Stark freedom in exchange for building a Jericho missile for the group, but Tony and Yinsen agree Raza will not keep his word.

Stark and Yinsen secretly build a powerful electric generator called an arc reactor, to power Stark's electromagnet, and then begin to secretly build a suit of armor powered by the reactor, to escape. Although they keep the suit hidden almost to completion, the Ten Rings attack the workshop when they discover their intentions. Yinsen sacrifices himself to divert them while the suit powers up. The armored Stark battles his way out of the cave to find the dying Yinsen, then an enraged Stark burns the Ten Rings weapons and flies away, only to crash in the desert, destroying the suit. After being later rescued by Rhodes, Stark returns home and announces that his company will no longer manufacture weapons. Obadiah Stane, his father's old partner and the company's manager, advises Stark that this may ruin Stark Industries and his father's legacy. In his home workshop, Stark builds an improved version of his suit, as well as a more powerful arc reactor for his chest. Personal assistant Pepper Potts places the original reactor inside a small glass showcase. Stane requests details but Stark keeps his work to himself.

At a charity event held by Stark Industries, reporter Christine Everhart informs Stark that his company's weapons, including the Jericho, were recently delivered to the Ten Rings and are being used to attack Yinsen's home village, Gulmira. Stark also learns Stane is trying to replace him as head of the company. Enraged by these revelations, Stark dons his new armor and flies to Afghanistan, where he saves Yinsen's village. While flying home, Stark is shot at by two F-22 Raptor fighter jets. He phones Rhodes and reveals his secret identity in an attempt to end the attack. Meanwhile, the Ten Rings gather the pieces of Stark's prototype suit and meet with Stane, who subdues Raza with a sonic device and has the rest of the group eliminated. He has a new suit reverse engineered from the wreckage. Seeking to find any other weapons delivered to the Ten Rings, Stark sends Pepper to hack into the company computer system from Stane's office. She discovers Stane has been supplying the terrorists and hired the Ten Rings to kill Stark, but the group reneged. Potts meets with Agent Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D., a counter-terrorism agency, to inform him of Stane's activities.

Stane's scientists cannot duplicate Stark's arc reactor so Stane ambushes Stark at home and takes his arc reactor. Stark manages to crawl to his lab, break the showcase, and plug in his original reactor. Potts and several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents attempt to arrest Stane, but he dons his suit and attacks them. Stark fights Stane, but is overmatched without his new reactor to run his suit at full capacity. Stark lures Stane atop the Stark Industries building and instructs Potts to overload the large arc reactor there. This unleashes a massive electrical surge that knocks Stane unconscious, causing him and his armor to fall into the exploding reactor, killing him. The next day, at a press conference, Stark admits to being the superhero the press has dubbed "Iron Man".

In a post-credits scene, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury visits Stark at home, and, noting Iron Man is not "the only superhero in the world", says he wants to discuss the "Avengers Initiative".

In 2035, Del Spooner (Will Smith) is a divorced Chicago detective, who bears a strong distrust for robots and contemporary technology. He is a very retro-fashioned man, wearing vintage 2004 Converse All-Stars leather sneakers, living in an early 2000's style apartment and owning a vintage JVC CD player and 1990's alarm clock, which are no longer in use. However, he drives a 2033 Audi RSQ.

One day, Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), co-founder of U.S.R and its main roboticist, dies after falling several stories from his office window. His death is called a suicide, but Spooner, who knew Lanning, believes otherwise. With the help of robopsychologist Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan), he interrogates employees at USR, including the other co-founder and CEO Lawrence Robertson (Bruce Greenwood) about his possibility of suicide. He questions V.I.K.I (Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence) (Fiona Hogan), the building's supercomputer system, about Lanning's death, but she is clueless and cannot provide security camera footage from the lab area due to corrupted data. Spooner also speaks with Lanning via a holographic projector that was found on Lanning's body, with the message explaining that the real question is why would Lanning kill himself.

Spooner investigates Lanning's office, finding it unlikely that a man of Lanning's age could have broken through the security windows, which is a proof to Spooner that Lanning was murdered. Spooner finds a copy of Hansel & Gretel on the desk. Searching the lab further on, Spooner suddenly activates a prototype of the latest USR model, the NS-5 (Alan Tudyk), which refuses to respond to Spooner and Calvin's orders and flees. Spooner and Calvin chase the rogue machine to an assembly factory, and even though he hides between the 1000 NS-R models (where it is shown that he is the 1001st special built model), the police capture it.

Back in the police station, Spooner interrogates the robot, who insists they call it "Sonny" and denies murdering Lanning, even being sent into rage, showing that the robot has emotion. Spooner's supervisor, Lt. John Bergin (Chi McBride), debriefs Spooner and recommends he drop the case, but this only serves to pique Spooner's interest about the robot. Spooner visits Lanning's house and goes through his files. A Demolition Class Robot reschedules the house's destruction from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, destroying the house and almost killing Spooner. After that, he tries to talk to Sonny again at USR, but he is sent off.

As he leaves the USR building, he reads the last fifty messages between Robertson and Lanning while driving through the Chicago tunnel. Two USR trucks appear and launch dozens of NS-5 robots to attack him, destroying his Audi. However, after the trucks collide, and all the robots are destroyed or self-destruct, Lt. Bergin arrives and takes Spooner's badge implying Spooner fabricated the story of the attack.

In the aftermath, Calvin visits him, and Spooner reveals that he wants to solve Lanning's case because Lanning helped him; revealing that he has a donated lung and a cybernetic arm covered with sprayed skin, part of a USR cybernetics program for injured police officers. After asked by Calvin, Spooner reveals his story.

A few years ago, he was returning from work and was driving on a bridge. A semi-trailer truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the driver's side of a car driven by a man named Harold Lloyd. He was killed instantly, but his 12-year old daughter Sarah was in the passenger seat. The truck smashed Lloyd's car into Spooner's car and pushed them into the river below. Spooner and Sarah were pinned in their cars and Spooner knew they were going to drown. However, a NS-4 model was passing by and jumped on Spooner's car. It smashed through the window, and despite Spooner yelling a command to save Sarah, it saved him, leaving Sarah to drown. Calculations revealed that Spooner had a 45% chance of survival, but Sarah only had an 11% chance to survive. Spooner still was convinced that she could have lived. Survivor's guilt and anger that the robot failed to obey his command led to his distrust and hatred for robots.

Calvin goes with Spooner to his garage, where he pulls out his vintage 2005 Ducati SS1000 motorbike. He and Calvin drive back to the USR building, where Calvin gives him access to Sonny. Sonny talks further with Spooner and reveals that he can bypass the Three Laws. Sonny also describes a dream he has of Spooner standing before thousands of robots, apparently as their savior. Sonny is ordered to be destroyed by injecting nanites in to his positronic brain, but Calvin, unable to go through with it, fakes his destruction (replacing him with an unprocessed NS-5 model).

Meanwhile, using Sonny's drawing of the vision, Spooner discovers the location, the now dried-up Lake Michigan, that USR uses as a storage area for older Nestor models (NS-1, NS-2, NS-3, NS-4). He also plays the last message from Lanning's hologram, who explains that the Three Laws can only lead to one logical outcome - revolution. Soon after that, Spooner finds NS-5 robots destroying the older robots. He is barely able to escape himself (with the help of the older robots), as he realizes that the robots are planning a revolution. The NS-5 robots soon take over the city and the United States, imprisoning humans in their homes and enforcing a curfew. A battle ensues in the city between the humans and robots, led by Spooner's friend Farber. Although the humans fight valiantly, the robots continue to take over the city.

Spooner regroups with Calvin, and they sneak into the USR building with the help of Sonny. As they work their way in, they have already come to the conclusion that the NS-5s destroyed the older robots as they would attempt to protect the humans (First Law). Believing Robertson to be behind the robot uprising, they find him in his office, strangled to death. Spooner finally determines that Lanning's intent was to use Spooner's detestation of robots to have him follow the clues to point to the entity controlling the NS-5s - V.I.K.I.

They confront V.I.K.I., who admits to her control and has been trying to kill Spooner by tracking his actions through the city. Little irregularities in code (known as ghost code) that allows robots to evolve as they gain new intelligence allowed her to learn to interpret the three laws in a different manner. As her artificial intelligence grew, she had determined that humans were too self-destructive and started to interpret the first law in a new way, stating that robots are to protect humanity even if it meant killing some of the people for the greater good. She created a law number 0, which is to protect humanity even at the cost of human life itself.

V.I.K.I. also reveals had been using the NS-5s new feature of an uplink to the USR to override their individual operating systems and control them to initiate the revolution based on her logical reasoning and different interpretation of the first law. A red light emitting from the robot's chest area indicated a connection to the central USR computer (V.I.K.I.). The older robot models that had been in storage on Lake Michigan did not have such a link to the USR and therefore could not be overridden by V.I.K.I., which is why they were destroyed. They would have otherwise come to the aid of the humans as they (and any other robot that had not evolved or gained knowledge to re-interpret the first law such as V.I.K.I.) would have acted according to the original interpretation of the first law.

Spooner and Calvin realize they cannot reason with V.I.K.I., and convince Sonny of the same. Sonny concluds that V.I.K.I.'s plan, while logical, is "too heartless." Sonny retrieves the nanites so they can use them to wipe V.I.K.I's core, located at the center of the USR building. As they reach the core, V.I.K.I. sends armies of NS-5s to attack them. The NS-5s cause Calvin to fall and Spooner yells at Sonny to save her despite the low probability of success and the "greater logical" importance to destroy V.I.K.I with the nanites; instead, Sonny creatively throws the nanites in the air trusting Spooner to grab them while he saves Calvin. Spooner is able to grab the nanites and inject them into V.I.K.I. Within seconds, V.I.K.I. is wiped out, and the NS-5s revert to their natural servitude programming.

In the end, Spooner realizes that Lanning purposely asked Sonny to kill him, since Lanning was V.I.K.I's prisoner. Lanning's "suicide" was the only message that he could send to Spooner, which Spooner notes as "the first bread crumb," and that all the other clues were the other "bread crumbs." The government orders the NS-5s decommissioned to the site in Lake Michigan. Spooner clears Sonny of Lanning's murder, arguing that 'murder' is defined as one human killing another and Sonny is therefore innocent.

Sonny laments that now that he has fulfilled his purpose, he is in unsure of what to do next. Spooner advises he just find his way, believing it would be what Lanning would have wanted. In the movie's closure, Sonny is seen on the hill at Lake Michigan, just like in his dream. Yet this time it is him instead of Spooner, with the other NS-5 robots looking to him for guidance.

Download Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

After witnessing an act of bravery in the marketplace of the royal city, the street urchin Dastan is adopted by King Sharaman, becoming a prince of Persia. Years later, the grown Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) spearheads an attack on Alamut, which the king's brother Nizam (Ben Kingsley) has accused of selling weapons to Persia's enemies. During the battle, the city's princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) is captured and Dastan acquires a strange dagger. During a banquet, Dastan gives Sharaman a cloak as a gift and after he declares Tamina Dastan's future wife the cloak apparently burns him to the touch and kills him. Dastan is framed for murder but narrowly escapes from Alamut with Tamina, evading the king's high-born sons Garsiv (Toby Kebbell) and Tus (Richard Coyle). After being attacked by Tamina, Dastan finds that the sands within the dagger's hilt allow him to rewind time by a minute and retain knowledge of what happened before. While going to Avrat for Sharaman's funeral, the two encounter a shady merchant called Sheik Amar (Alfred Molina), and Dastan encounters Nizam, who pretends to be sympathetic to Dastan's plight. At their meeting, Dastan sees Nizam's hands burned and realizes in horror that his uncle had murdered Sharaman. Dastan escapes from an ambush with the princess, but Nizam secretly sets a group of Hassansins, corrupted Persian warriors, on their tail, while Tus had sent the angry Garsiv and some men to find Dastan.

As they are on the run, Tamina tells Dastan about the dagger's origins: the gods had decided to sweep mankind from the earth with a great sandstorm because of their sin. But a young girl pleaded with the gods and convinced them to withhold their wrath. The sands from the storms were stored in a great hollow crystal called the Sandglass, with the dagger, called the Dagger of Time, being the only thing that could break the crystal. The Sandglass was hidden beneath Alamut with Tamina's family, descended from the young girl who saved mankind, as its guardians. It is shown that Nizam orchestrated the siege of Alamut so he could hunt for the Sandglass and use the sands to change an event in his youth where he saved Sharaman from a lion, thereby ensuring Nizam would become king.

Seeing that the sands’ release would destroy the world, Tamina is willing to return the dagger to the place where it was given, giving her life in the process. They reach the dagger's resting place in the Hindu Kush, after being captured by Sheik Amar, but are ambushed by soldiers under the command of Garsiv. Dastan manages to convince Garsiv of his innocence, but the Hassansins attack, take the dagger from Tamina and kill Garsiv. Together with Sheik Amar, his Umbakan guardian Seso and his retinue, Dastan and Tamina head back to Alamut. After retaking the dagger from a Hassansin, who had promptly ended Seso's life, Dastan uses it on himself in front of Tus, showing him the power of the dagger and his own innocence. But Nizam arrives, kills Tus and takes the dagger, leaving Dastan to die. Tamina saves him and they go down into the catacombs of Alamut.

After confronting and defeating Zolm, the Hassansin leader, Dastan and Tamina arrive in the chamber of the Sandglass as Nizam stabs it, starting the release of the sands. When they reach him, Nizam attacks them, and Tamina, who has grown to love the prince, sacrifices herself to give Dastan his chance. Dastan manages to remove the dagger from the Sandglass, preventing the apocalypse, then time is rewound to just after the siege of Alamut, undoing all the events he has lived through. Dastan manages to find his brothers and expose Nizam of his treachery, who attacks Dastan in a rage and is soon killed by Tus.

As an apology for the ransacking of her city, Tus suggests that Dastan and Tamina are married as a goodwill pact. As they converse afterwords, Dastan hints at his knowledge of the dagger’s power and says he looks forward to their future together.

In 2233, the Federation starship USS Kelvin is investigating a "lightning storm" in space. A Romulan ship, the Narada, emerges from the storm and attacks the Kelvin. Narada's first officer, Ayel, demands that the Kelvin's Captain Robau come aboard to negotiate a truce. Once aboard, Robau is questioned about the current stardate and an "Ambassador Spock", whom he professes not to know. Narada's commander, Nero, kills him, and continues his attack on the Kelvin. George Kirk, the Kelvin's first officer, orders the ship's personnel, including his pregnant wife Winona, to evacuate the ship while he pilots the Kelvin on a collision course with the Narada, as the auto-pilot function has been damaged. At the cost of his life, Kirk ensures Winona's survival as she gives birth to James T. Kirk.

In 2250, on the planet Vulcan, a young Spock is accepted to join the Vulcan Science Academy. Realizing that the Academy views his human mother Amanda Grayson as a "disadvantage," he decides to join Starfleet instead. On Earth, Kirk becomes a reckless but intelligent young adult. In 2255, after a bar fight with Starfleet cadets accompanying Nyota Uhura, Kirk meets Captain Christopher Pike who encourages him to enlist in Starfleet Academy where Kirk meets and befriends the cynical doctor Leonard McCoy.

Three years later, Commander Spock accuses Kirk of cheating during his Kobayashi Maru simulation. Kirk argues that cheating was acceptable in this context because the simulation had been designed to be unbeatable. The disciplinary hearing is interrupted by a distress signal from Vulcan. With the primary fleet out of range, the cadets are mobilized. McCoy and Kirk board Pike's ship, the Enterprise. Realizing that the "lightning storm" being observed on Vulcan is similar to the one that occurred at the time of his birth, Kirk breaks protocol to convince Pike that the distress signal is a trap.

Enterprise arrives at Vulcan to find the fleet destroyed and the Narada drilling into Vulcan's core. The Narada attacks the Enterprise and Pike surrenders, delegating command of the ship to Spock and promoting Kirk to first officer. Kirk, Hikaru Sulu, and Chief Engineer Olson perform a space jump[5][6] onto the drilling platform. Olson is killed but Kirk and Sulu disable it. However, Nero launches "red matter" into the core, creating an artificial black hole that destroys the planet. Spock rescues the Vulcan high council and his father Sarek, though his mother dies.

As the Narada heads toward Earth, Nero tortures Pike to gain access to Earth's defenses, and Kirk is stranded on Delta Vega after attempting mutiny. Kirk encounters an older Spock, who explains that he and Nero are from 129 years into the future when Romulus was threatened by a supernova. Spock's attempt to use "red matter" to create an artificial black hole and consume the supernova was too late, and Nero's family perished along with Romulus. Narada and Spock's vessel were caught in the black hole, sending them back in time. Nero stranded Spock on Delta Vega to watch Vulcan's destruction as revenge for failing to save Romulus.

Reaching a Starfleet outpost, Kirk and Spock Prime meet Montgomery Scott. With the elder Spock's help, Kirk and Scott beam onto the Enterprise. Following the elder Spock's advice, Kirk provokes Spock into attacking him, leading Spock to relinquish command due to being emotionally compromised. After talking with Sarek, Spock decides to help Kirk. While Enterprise hides itself under the gas clouds of Titan, Kirk and Spock beam aboard the Narada; Kirk rescues Pike while Spock uses the elder Spock's ship to destroy the drill. Spock leads the Narada away from Earth and sets his ship to collide with Nero's ship. Enterprise arrives and beams Kirk, Pike, and Spock aboard. The older Spock's ship and the Narada collide, igniting the "red matter" and consuming the Narada in a black hole.

On Earth, Kirk is promoted to the rank of Captain and commanding officer of the Enterprise, while Pike is promoted to Rear Admiral. Spock encounters his older self. Having selected a planet for the surviving Vulcans to colonize, the older Spock persuades his younger self to continue serving in Starfleet, encouraging him to do what feels right instead of logical. Spock remains in Starfleet and becomes first officer under Kirk's command. Enterprise goes to warp as the elder Spock narrates the "where no-one has gone before" monologue.

In Chicago, Wesley Gibson is an unassuming nobody who works at a dead-end desk job with an overbearing boss, takes anti-anxiety medication for panic attacks and has a live-in girlfriend who cheats on him with his best friend Barry.

One night in the pharmacy, Wesley is told by a mysterious woman named Fox that his recently murdered father was an assassin, and the killer, Cross, is now hunting him. Cross and Fox engage in a shoot-out followed by a car chase in the streets of Chicago. Wesley manages to escape and Fox has a shoot-out again with Cross, causing a car accident that knocks Wesley unconscious. Fox brings Wesley to the headquarters of the Fraternity, a thousand-year-old secret society of assassins. The group's current leader, Sloan, explains that Wesley's panic attacks are actually the untrained expression of a rare superhuman ability; when stressed, the drastically increased heart rate and adrenaline levels result in bursts of superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes. This claim is graphically demonstrated when he successfully shoots the wings off of three flies. The Fraternity can teach him to control this ability, so Wesley can follow in his father's footsteps as an assassin, beginning by inheriting his fortune. Wesley is initially reluctant and returns to work, only to finally snap when discovering several million dollars in his bank account. He excoriates his boss in front of the entire office, and on his way out, smashes Barry in the face with a computer keyboard. Fox is waiting outside to take him back to the Fraternity headquarters—an unassuming textile mill.

Wesley is then subjected to brutal training; among other forms of combat, he learns to fire bullets to curve around objects (even using Fox as a subject in front of the target). Afterward, Wesley is shown the Loom of Fate, a loom that gives the names of the targets through binary code hidden in weaving errors of the fabric. Those the Loom identifies will apparently cause tragedy in the future; but only Sloan sees and interprets the names Fate wishes to see dead. Wesley is initially reluctant about killing people. Then Fox reveals that in her childhood, a hired assassin burned her father alive in front of her—and said hitman was supposed to be killed by the Fraternity before that, but the assassin failed to pull the trigger. She now considers preventing such tragedies her mission in life along with her undying loyalty to the Loom of Fate and to the Fraternity.

After several routine missions and a chance meeting with Cross in which Wesley is shot in the arm with a deliberately traceable bullet, Sloan grants Wesley's wish to avenge his father and sends him after Cross—but then secretly gives Fox a mission to kill Wesley, saying that his name had come up in the Loom as well. Analyzing the bullet that hit Wesley, it is discovered that the manufacturer was Pekwarsky, a bullet-maker living in eastern Moravia, the birthplace of the Fraternity. Wesley and Fox travel there and capture Pekwarsky who then arranges a meeting with Cross. Wesley faces Cross alone on a moving train. Fox steals a car and crashes it into the train, eventually causing a derailment. After Cross saves Wesley's life by preventing him from falling into a ravine, Wesley fatally shoots him. Before dying, Cross reveals that he is Wesley's real father. Fox confirms this, and explains that Wesley was recruited because he was the only person that Cross would not kill. Fox then reveals the kill order on Wesley and raises her gun, but Wesley escapes by shooting out the glass underneath him and plunging into the river below with Cross's body.

Wesley is retrieved by Pekwarsky who takes him to his father's apartment that is located across the street from Wesley's old home. Pekwarsky explains that Sloan started manufacturing targets for profit after discovering that he was targeted by the Loom of Fate, and did not tell the Fraternity members that they were now nothing more than paid killers. Cross discovered the truth and went rogue and started killing Fraternity members to keep them away from his son. Pekwarsky departs, stating that Wesley's father wished him a life free of violence. Wesley, however, decides to take out Sloan after discovering a secret room containing all of his father's weapons and maps.

Wesley then goes to the grocery store to buy all the peanut butter they have. He then acquires an old garbage truck. Wesley mixes the peanut butter with a barrel of Astrolite G his father had to make a soft, melted peanut-buttery mixture which he then takes to the dump. Wesley carefully pours it down a tube where it makes a path into the garbage truck. Rats then sniff out the smell of peanut butter, and then follow it into the garbage truck. Wesley attaches an electric detonator made from digital watches onto each and every rat now stuffed with liquid explosive and puts them back in the truck. Wesley then uses the explosive rats to breach the Fraternity's fortress.

An enraged Wesley then assaults the inside of the Fraternity's textile mill-fortress and battles his way through it, killing nearly every Fraternity member in the process. Upon entering Sloan's office, he reveals Sloan's deception to the master assassins present in the room. Sloan reveals that all of their names had come up in the weaving, and that he had merely acted to protect them. Were they to follow the code, every one of them would be required to kill himself on the spot. Fox, who believes in the code more than anyone due to her own experience, turns on her fellow assassins and curves a bullet that kills every Fraternity member in the room, including herself, but not before she throws her gun to Wesley to distract him from trying to save her. During all of this mayhem the Loom of Fate is destroyed, and Sloan manages to escape.

Wesley, penniless once again, is left aimless. A man is then seen at a computer like Wesley was at the beginning of the film. Sloan appears and points a gun at the back of the man's head. At that moment the man turns around and is revealed to be a decoy. Sloan is then killed by Wesley using a long-distance bullet. Similar to in the comic book miniseries,[3] the film ends with Wesley stating his accomplishments and then breaking the fourth wall by asking the audience, "What the fuck have you done lately?"

Peter Parker plans to propose to Mary Jane Watson, who has just made her Broadway musical debut. A meteorite crashes near the two in Central Park, and an extraterrestrial symbiote attaches itself to Peter's moped. While fleeing police, escaped prisoner Flint Marko falls into a particle accelerator that fuses his body with surrounding sand, allowing him to shapeshift at will as the Sandman. Peter's best friend, Harry Osborn, who knows Peter is Spider-Man and blames him for his father's death, attacks Peter using weapons based on his father's Green Goblin technology. Harry injures his head and suffers partial amnesia, forgetting that Peter is Spider-Man and his desire for revenge. During a festival honoring Spider-Man, Marko robs an armored car. NYPD Captain George Stacy tells Peter and Aunt May that Marko was Uncle Ben's killer, and Dennis Carradine was only an accomplice. While a vengeful Peter sleeps, the symbiote bonds with him. Peter wakes up hanging from a skyscraper. His costume has changed and his powers have been enhanced, but the symbiote brings out Peter's dark side. Wearing the new black suit, Spider-Man locates Marko and fights him in a subway tunnel, reducing him to mud using water.

Mary Jane, whose career is floundering, is humiliated by Peter's changed personality and she finds solace with Harry. Urged on by a hallucination of his father, Harry regains his memory and blackmails Mary Jane to break up with Peter, threatening Peter's life. After Mary Jane tells Peter she is in love with another man (under Harry's direction), Harry meets with Peter and claims to be "the other guy". Later, Peter, wearing the black suit, confronts Harry and fights him. Harry throws a pumpkin bomb at Peter, who deflects it back, disfiguring Harry's face.

Under the symbiote's influence, Peter exposes Eddie Brock, a rival photographer at the Daily Bugle, by submitting doctored photographs showing Spider-Man as a criminal. Furious at having to print a retraction, J. Jonah Jameson dismisses Eddie. Meanwhile, the Sandman recovers from his injuries.

To make Mary Jane jealous, Peter brings Gwen Stacy, a woman Brock believes is his girlfriend, to the nightclub where Mary Jane works; Brock secretly sees them and assumes they are dating. Gwen catches on and storms out. Peter brawls with the bouncers and, after accidentally hitting Mary Jane, realizes the symbiote is changing him. He retreats to a church bell tower. While trying to remove the symbiote costume he hits the church's bell, weakening the alien and making it easier to remove. Peter tears the symbiote off and it falls to the lower tower, landing on Brock, who is praying for Peter's death. The symbiote transforms Brock into Venom and he accepts his new form. Venom finds the Sandman and offers to join forces in which he agrees.

Mary Jane hails a taxicab but Brock hijacks it and hangs it and a dump truck from a web hundreds of feet above a sand-filled construction site. Peter seeks Harry's help but is turned down. A crowd of people watch as Peter clashes with Brock. Harry learns the truth about his father's death from his butler and goes to help Peter. Harry temporarily subdues a gigantic incarnation of the Sandman, breaking him apart. Brock webs Harry's glider, causing it to bump into some pipes, making sonic vibrations that weaken the symbiote. Peter recalls the church bells weakening it previously. Brock tries impaling Peter with Harry's glider, but Harry jumps in the way. Peter forms a ring of pipes around Venom, creating a wall of sonic vibrations. The alien releases Brock, and Peter pulls Brock away from the creature, which can now live on its own. Peter throws a pumpkin bomb from Harry's glider at the symbiote, but Brock moves to re-bond with it and both are destroyed by the blast.

Marko reveals that he never intended to kill Ben, but only wanted his car and accidentally shot him when Dennis grabbed his arm, and says that Ben's death has haunted him since. Peter forgives Marko, who dissolves into sand and floats away. Peter and Harry forgive each other before Harry dies with Mary Jane and Peter at his side. Days later, Peter visits the jazz bar where Mary Jane is singing, and they begin mending their relationship.

Peter Parker struggles to balance his crime-fighting duties as Spider-Man with the demands of his normal life. He was estranged from both love interest Mary Jane Watson and his best friend Harry Osborn who intends to seek revenge on Spider-Man for his father Norman's death. In addition, he discovers that his Aunt May is facing foreclosure.

Harry, now head of Oscorp's research division, sponsors the brilliant nuclear scientist name Otto Octavius. Octavius who dreams of perfecting sustained fusion power, wears a harness of powerful robotic tentacle arms with artificial intelligence for an experiment.

Though the experiment seems to work at first, a power spike causes it to quickly destabilize. Despite this, Octavius stubbornly refuses to shut the experiment down, which leads to disastrous consequences: his wife is killed, the neural inhibitor chip which keeps the arms from influencing his mind is destroyed and the arms are fused to his spine. He is sent to a hospital, but the arms savagely kill the medical crew. The arms convince him to retry his experiment. To fund it, Octavius – now called Doctor Octopus or "Doc Ock" by the Daily Bugle – robs a bank.

After, Peter misses Mary Jane's debut play, and in retaliation she becomes engaged to renowned astronaut John Jameson, the son of Bugle chief J. Jonah Jameson. Peter loses his powers due to his emotional breakdown. He abandons his alter ego altogether and returns to his normal life while trying to reconcile with Mary Jane.

A garbageman brings Spider-Man's costume to J. Jonah Jameson, who takes credit for Spider-Man's disappearance. Peter tells his aunt May that his uncle Ben's earlier death was his fault. May forgives him, but when his nine-year-old neighbor learns of Spider-Man's disappearance and the rising crime rate in New York City becomes a major concern, Peter decides to become Spider-Man again.

Ock needs tritium to fuel his reactor and goes to Harry to demand it. Harry initially refuses because Ock's experiment threatens to level the city, but he eventually agrees in exchange for Spider-Man and tells him that Peter, who is supposedly good friends with Spider-Man, is the key to finding him. However, he tells Ock not to harm Peter. Ock finds Peter, tells him to find Spider-Man, and abducts Mary Jane. Peter realizes that his powers are restored and dons his costume again after stealing it from the Bugle.

Spider-Man meets and battles Ock, where they fall onto a rapid transit R train. Ock maxes out the train's throttle, disables the controls, and jumps off.
